Between the 9th and 12th of January the capital played host to London Collections: Men which is now in its 4th year of operation. London Collections Men (or LCM for short) emphasises both the creative and commercial importance of British brands and other emerging talent. The events at LCM are designed to showcase a wide variety of designers and the growing cultural landscape that contributes to the inspiration and success of the ever growing fashion industry.

The number of passionate individuals behind many of the UKs biggest blogs and brands were present and their love for fashion and design was infectious and in some ways highly motivational from a personal point of view. The LCM 2015 was an experience and a little glimpse into the fashion world I have heard so much about, now we just need to see what London Fashion Week 2015 has in store for us.

One of the brands I was really keen on learning more about was Duchamp who I have covered in the past in the Duchamps ‘The Artist’ and ‘The Jetsetting Rogue’ posts. At LCM Duchamp showed off the continued evolution of their collection and I have to say I’m loving the direction the Autumn / Winter 2015 pieces are heading. With the emphasis on colour and fabric innovation the eveningwear blazers came in numerous different varieties such as hounds tooth and block coloured wool and cashmere in camel, sea blue, forest green and monochrome.

For those who don’t know, Duchamp traces its origins to a accidental discovery by its founder of a cache of 10,000 vintage cufflinks on a trip to a Paris flea market, inspiring him to create his own luxury men’s accessories in his native London. Following on from this theme, the dinner jackets are exclusively printed on luxury 50-ounce English silk to really bring out the texture and my word are they nice to touch, both inside and outside.

The new LCM collection was held in the Scarfes Bar at the stunning Rosewood Hotel in Holburn which in itself was an experience. The room was filled with old friends and familiar faces who have all dedicated their Sunday evening to their passions. Bloggers such as David Evans (Grey Fox), Toni Tran (Fashitects), Nathan Lewis (Man Meets Fashion), Henri (Infashionity) and Jaime (Boy Meets Fashion) were all as charming as I imagined and took the time to chat to the ‘new kid on the block’ and even give me some substantial tips and tricks of the trade.

After meeting several of my counterparts I felt severely underdressed as I opted to go for the simple but classic dark blazer and tie combination with very few stand out details (a full writeup on the outfit will be published this week so make sure you keep an eye out). I was too busy to care though as I was overwhelmed by the live music which really added to the atmosphere of a Hollywood party in the 60s and intricate entrees that wouldn’t look out of place at an ambassadors ball.

Overall I had a fantastic experience at the Duchamp London Collections, the outfits were very outlandish yet classic as they stuck to tried and tested fabric principles with wool and cashmere. Meeting David from Grey Fox was also a personal highlight as he has served as a personal inspiration for a number of years and boy can that man rock a tweed jacket. Make sure you keep reading Style Division for more London Collections: Men write-ups and hopefully our paths will cross at LCM 2016!
